Meth

Items to Look For

Warning Signs

The following items are things to be on the lookout for as they may suggest meth use:

  • Small foil wrappers
  • Hollowed-out light bulbs
  • Hollowed-out ballpoint pens
  • High-gloss magazine pages folded in such a way to hold a powder or crystal
  • Scales that measure small amounts
  • Detox kits. Many kinds are available for purchase, either at local vendors or over the Internet
  • Containers of frozen urine. Users who have to undergo urine analysis may try to substitute “clean” urine during a screening

Meth is hard on a user’s body and mind. Look for these warning signs:

  • Energy shifts, from very energetic to lethargic
  • Excessive thirst
  • Insomnia
  • Paranoia
  • Depression
  • Weight loss
  • Aggression due to excess energy
  • Difficulty focusing
  • Performing repetitive tasks
  • A flushed look appearance
  • Protruding eyes that look “bugged out”
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Tooth decay, resulting from bad diet and grinding of teeth

If you suspect your child or someone you know is using, call a local counseling agency for direction, contact your local police department, or call The Lost and Found Ministry at (218) 287-2089. Lost and Found can also assist in an intervention.

Neighborhood Lookout

Concerned citizens can be one of our community’s greatest assets. If you suspect a drug problem in your neighborhood, the Fargo Police Department offers these things to look for:

Call the Fargo Police Narcotics Office immediately (701-235-4493) if you suspect illegal narcotic activity.
