The Village Family Service Center has received several grants from Operation Round Up efforts at electric cooperatives in communities served by the nonprofit. These include:
- Verendrye Electric Trust’s Operation Round Up awarded The Village in Minot a $1,000 grant. Funds will be used to enhance The Village’s office space and to purchase supplies for its Supervised Parenting Time and Child Exchange Center. This program provides structured observation of parents and their children when supervised visitation is required. It also offers a safe, neutral location for parents with shared custody to exchange their children for visits, reducing the likelihood of children witnessing traumatic interactions between the parents.
- Runestone Electric’s Operation Round Up gave $500 for the Alexandria office to purchase an EMDR kit with Bluetooth capability. EMDR therapy is used to help people who have experienced trauma. The kits help stimulate the brain bilaterally, which allows for traumatic memories to be reprocessed.
- Capital Electric’s Operation Round Up also allocated $500 for the Bismarck office to purchase an EMDR kit with Bluetooth capability.
The Village has offices in 15 communities across North Dakota and Minnesota. Its programs and services include counseling, addiction treatment, in-home family therapy, mentoring, adoption services, pregnancy counseling, truancy intervention, financial counseling, employee assistance programs, and business training.
