FARGO – A four-part Recovery Month community education series on addiction begins Monday, Sept. 9, at The Village Family Service Center, 2701 12th Ave. S., Fargo. The series, hosted by First Step Recovery, a program of The Village, will explore addiction’s effects on families and treatment options.
These free, hourlong lectures will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mondays through September. Dates and topics are as follows:
- Sept. 9: Understanding the Disease of Addiction
- Sept. 16: How Addiction Affects Families
- Sept. 23: Personal Stories of Addiction
- Sept. 30: Healing from Addiction
Recovery Month celebrates the millions of Americans who are in recovery from mental and substance use disorders, reminding us that treatment is effective and that people can and do recover.
As part of Recovery Month, First Step also will host the annual Michael Kaspari Memorial Run for Recovery on Sept. 14 at MB Johnson Park in Moorhead. This 5K and 1K fun run/walk raises funds for the Family Program at First Step. To register, visit www.TheVillageFamily.org/Run4Recovery.
