FARGO – Today, First Step Recovery, a program of The Village Family Service Center, unveiled a new logo that reinforces its connection to The Village. The alignment of the brands comes as The Village prepares to co-locate counseling and First Step Recovery staff in a new joint space, creating a more seamless experience for clients.
In mid-May, a new Village location will open at 2701 12th Ave. S., Fargo, offering Employee Assistance Program and outpatient counseling, The Village’s Intensive Outpatient Program for mental health, and First Step Recovery’s addiction treatment programs.
First Step Recovery was founded in 2000 by Susan Stenehjem-Brown and Michael Kaspari. It became a part of The Village in 2011 and provides a wide range of outpatient treatment programs for adults struggling with substance use disorder. First Step currently operates in a standalone building at 3201 Fiechtner Drive S.
“We are excited to bring our behavioral health services together in one location, as this will allow us to expand and better meet the needs of individuals and families in the community,” said The Village President and CEO Jeff Pederson. “The new logo illustrates this integration of programs and how we are stronger together.”
The new First Step logo incorporates The Village’s existing logo and brand colors. The camel, featured in First Step’s previous and new logo, is a symbol of recovery, described in this poem:
The camel each day goes twice to his knees.
He picks up his load with the greatest of ease.
He walks through the day with his head held high.
And for that day stays completely dry.
The Village has operated in the Fargo community for 128 years and provides a wide range of behavioral health services. The Village office at 1201 25th St. S., Fargo, will remain open, housing administrative staff, adoption services, pregnancy counseling, financial counseling, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Children’s counseling services will continue to be offered at The Village’s Moorhead location.
Further information about the office move will be shared in coming weeks. For more information, call 701-451-4900
