MOORHEAD – The Village Family Service Center is starting a new 10-week therapy group where LGBTQ+ teens in the Fargo-Moorhead area can learn about identity, relationships, coping skills and more in an affirming, accepting and supportive culture.
Pride Teens will meet from 5:30 to 7 pm Tuesdays at The Village, 815 37th Ave. S., Moorhead, beginning Feb. 8. The group is open to youth ages 13 to 17 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual and pansexual. Participants can also attend via Zoom.
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Hannah Pederson will lead Pride Teens. Amanda Bushaw will co-facilitate.
“We saw a need in our clients and community to better support LGBTQ+ youth,” Pederson said. “Our hope is teens who engage in our group will learn about themselves and others, develop a positive identity, and increase their ability to cope with unique struggles they may face in their home, school, community and relationships. Pride Teens will be a safe place to ask questions, be vulnerable, and be yourself.”
To register for Pride Teens, call 701-451-4811. Insurance is accepted.
