FARGO – Adults with a diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can learn to identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and improve their day-to-day living thanks to a new 12-week therapy group starting at The Village Family Service Center.
Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD will meet from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, March 1 through May 17. The group will be virtual to start; later sessions may meet in person.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD that teaches participants how to evaluate their ways of thinking and consider alternate viewpoints of the trauma. Participants do not have to discuss the details of their traumatic experience. CPT has worked well for many types of trauma, including combat, sexual or childhood traumas, and is effective for individuals who have experienced multiple traumas.
Insurance is accepted. To register for the group, call 701-451-4900.
The Village Family Service Center strengthens kids and families across Minnesota and North Dakota through behavioral health services, including mental health counseling, addiction treatment, in-home family therapy, financial counseling, employee assistance programs, and more.
