Big Brothers Big Sisters receives donation from Hornbacher’s

FARGO – Hornbacher’s on Wednesday, May 15, presented a check for $46,819 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Village Family Service Center. This donation allows BBBS to empower potential in kids across Fargo-Moorhead through professionally supported, one-to-one matches with volunteer mentors.

Hornbacher’s is the title sponsor of Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Big Brothers Big Sisters’ major annual fundraising event. This year, that event raised over $100,000 in support of local children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters. In addition to the title sponsorship, employees collected over $7,000 in pledges for their bowling teams and sold more than $32,400 in $1 paper bowling pins at registers March 13-29.

Media are invited to a check presentation at 10 a.m. May 15 at the Osgood Hornbacher’s, 4151 45th St. S., Fargo. will speak, as well as Devlyn Brooks, chairman of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Advisory Committee and volunteer Big Brother.

“We are proud to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters and support the important work they are doing every day in our community,” said Hornbacher’s President Matt Leiseth. “Because of our generous community, thousands of children have been matched with a 'Big' that has had a positive and lasting impact.”

Hornbacher’s has donated more than $620,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Village.

“Hornbacher’s continued financial support empowers potential in hundreds of kids in our community every year,” said Susan Smith, Big Brothers Big Sisters program director. “Thanks to Hornbacher’s commitment to the children we serve, volunteer mentors are able to clear a path to each Little’s biggest possible future.”

Founded in 1951, Hornbacher’s operates eight grocery stores and employs over 1,400 people in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Hornbacher’s is committed to the community through support of many civic, educational, arts and non-profit organizations.
