New treatment option launches at First Step Recovery

Tuesday, February 12, 2019

FARGO – First Step Recovery, a program of The Village Family Service Center, is launching a new treatment option for those affected by the disease of addiction. Beginning Monday, Feb. 18, First Step will offer a daytime Intensive Outpatient Program.

Day programs make treatment more accessible to individuals who work later shifts or have other evening obligations. First Step’s new group option is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This 9-hour-a-week program is designed for patients who have alcohol or other drug problems that significantly affect their lives. The program includes group and individual therapy, family therapy, and educational lectures and videos.

Length of program varies and is based on each patient’s treatment goals and progress. The day group will be facilitated by Licensed Addiction Counselor Adam Priebnow. An evening IOP is also available at First Step.

“Addiction does not discriminate, and it affects everyone in some way,” said Gail Nelson, director of First Step Recovery. “The addition of this daytime group increases our capacity to offer treatment. If you struggle with addiction, we invite you to address the problem. Don’t let excuses get in your way. We are here for you.”

First Step Recovery was founded in 2000, and became part of The Village in 2011. It offers a wide range of addiction treatment programs, including partial hospitalization and relapse prevention. First Step also has a Family Program for loved ones of those in treatment. Individuals with questions or who are seeking an evaluation can call 701-451-4900.
